Brooklyn Get Down, a visual arts and music festival brings soul, film and
funk to Brooklyn’s Coney Island Art Walls: Outdoor Museum of Street Art.

NEW YORK (July 14, 2016) – The Brooklyn Get Down, a two day family-friendly House Music festival, will welcome an impressive roster of acclaimed dance music DJs, singing vocalists and visual artists for its launch on Friday, July 29, 2016.
Festival partners, Hands to the Sky Productions and Greenwood Beach @ Coney Art Walls, intend for Brooklyn Get Down to be a celebration of House music, the famous outdoor parties that ignited the House movement and the people who keep it alive.
“Dance music has always been about bringing people together,” said Domingo Canate, co-founder of the Brooklyn Get Down music festival. “We’re looking forward to welcoming people across all cultures, backgrounds and orientations for the love of music, for the love of dance, and for the love of art. Brooklyn Get Down is going to be like a soulful family reunion.”
Brooklyn Get Down’s inaugural festival blends music and art to create a full sensory experience. Performances from House music greats such as Monique Bingham, Josh Milan and Ian Friday coupled with the large-scale murals by legendary graffiti artists like Lady Pink and Tats Crew offers NYC a much-needed space to connect, energize, become inspired and dance freely.
House music has evolved into more than just a sound; Influencing mainstream music, fashion and dance. Brooklyn Get Down will also feature a screening of the lauded film Hands to the Sky, a documentary that turns the lens on DJ’s, musicians and fans of House music.

6:00-9:00 pm: DJ Sets & Singing Performances
9:00-9:30 pm: Fireworks display
9:30-11:00 pm – Film screening: Hands to the Sky. A music-driven documentary exploring the uplifting, spirited phenomenon of outdoor House music parties.

Presented by Thor Equities, Coney Art Walls is an outdoor museum of street art curated by Joseph Sitt and Jeffrey Deitch. Located at 3050 Stillwell Avenue near the beach and boardwalk in Coney Island, the public art wall project encompasses Greenwood Beach featuring a number of popular food vendors including Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Calexico and Table 87.
